The City of Cape Town says its teams have been working tirelessly to restore electricity in areas that have been affected by the inclement weather.

Philippi, Crawford, Grassy Park and Brackenfell are among the areas where officials are still hard at work to attend to outages. The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Energy explains that power has already been restored in some parts.

“‘Damaged infrastructure typically takes some time to repair and we are thankful that weather conditions have improved significantly so that our teams can attend to remaining repairs safely. In many areas, the nature of the repair work is tricky and dangerous, especially in difficult weather conditions. The teams are doing everything in their power to ensure that supply in the remaining areas is restored as quickly as humanly possible.”

High service request volumes are being experienced which leads to longer outage durations. Where damage to infrastructure is concerned, it is unfortunately not possible to give accurate restoration times. The City apologises for any inconvenience.
