Home affairs now operating on Saturdays until 25 May

Published on

The Department of Home Affairs has announced that its offices will now be open on Saturdays from 06 April to 25 May 2024 (excluding 27 April 2024). Their Saturday operating hours are from 08h00 to 13h00 and will cater to various services such as ID collection, processing new applications, and issuing Temporary Identity Certificates.

Additionally, offices will address issues like duplicates, amendments, rectifications, and cases involving deceased or alive status, provided the necessary supporting documents are provided.

The department also added that mobile offices are set to resume their services in remote areas where they previously received applications. The dates, times, and locations of the mobile offices will be communicated.

Clients now have the option to book appointments through the Branch Appointment Booking System (BABS) for the collection of Smart ID Cards and Green barcoded ID books. However, walk-ins without prior appointments are also welcomed.

“We invite people who have applied for their IDs, particularly young people who are first-time applicants, to come to our offices to collect their documents.” Deputy Minister, Mr Njabulo Nzuza.

The minister also emphasized the importance of responding to SMS notifications promptly and visiting Home Affairs offices to collect identification documents.
