With the unfortunate increase in fatal traffic accidents during March, the Western Cape Mobility Department has urged motorists check if their vehicle is roadworthy with a free vehicle check.

The ten-point inspection will oversee key components of a vehicle, such as tires, brakes, lights, suspension, CV joints, electrical systems, exhaust, wipers, license discs, and more. The department says it will be conducted by qualified examiners.

Mobility MEC, Ricardo Mackenzie, says this will ensure that motorists are safe on provincial roads during the Easter holiday period.

“Please take up this opportunity to check that your vehicle is roadworthy. Our aim is not to catch anyone out, but to help detect potential problems before you hit the road for long-distance travel. We want you and your loved ones to travel safely over this holiday period.”

Public transport operators, in particular, have been urged to prioritize the fitness of their vehicles, especially when transporting large volumes of passengers during the Easter period.
