Six suspects fatally wounded in Inanda

Six suspects have been shot and fatally wounded during a shootout with police in Inanda in the early hours of this morning. Police officers were following up information about suspects who are wanted for a spate of murders and house robberies. They are also sought in connection with a business robbery and a case of carjacking. On arrival at the scene, they were met with a hail of bullets and returned fire.

Three people, including a woman, have been arrested following the deadly shoot-out. The Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele will today visit the Inanda Police Station to receive a full briefing on the shootout in Emachobeni and other crime-related matters that have unfolded in that province in the past 24 hours.

Brigadier Jay Naicker says “Two rifles and a shotgun were found in the possession of the suspects, as well as a vehicle which was hijacked at KwaDabeka in December 2023.”

Confiscated items in Inanda

These items were confiscated by officers on the scene. He added that the suspects will appear in court soon. They face various charges.
