Motorists who are worried about hitting the road this festive season with loads of traffic fines behind their names have been encouraged to take advantage of the City’s traffic fines roadshow.
Starting this Friday 1 December, until Wednesday 6 December, motorists will be able to finalise outstanding fines and warrants, and apply for a reduction on traffic fines.
The event will start from 08:30 daily on the concourse level in the Cape Town Civic Centre. The roadshow will include Saturday.
Services available to the public include:
- All fine-related enquiries for vehicles registered in their name
- Applying for a reduction on traffic fines issued within the City of Cape Town’s municipal boundaries
- Paying outstanding fines
- Enquiring about warrants and/or summons issued in their name and finalising these
- Removing administration marks against their name on the Natis system
The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith says the initiative generates high demand each year.
He says while it is good to see so many people who want to exploit the opportunity, it is important to remember that this offering is going above and beyond.
The City has numerous existing mechanisms in place to finalise traffic fines, and these should always be the first port of call for the motoring public. Because there is such demand for the roadshow, those wishing to make use of the services should note that queues will be long, and at some point, there will have to be a cut-off.
Smith has urged motorists to please get in line early to avoid disappointment, but to also exercise patience.
Also remember to have the all the necessary documentation required on hand.
