R30 000 reward offered for missing toddler Ivakele Imvano Yeko

Khayelitsha Police are offering a 30 thousand rand reward for information that will lead to the safe return of a missing toddler. Little Ivakele Imvano Yeko was five months old when he was snatched by a woman in Somerset West. The incident occurred on the 5th of December at around 13h00 last year.

At the time of his disappearance, little Ivakele was seen wearing a red t-shirt with a nappy.

Authorities say his nanny handed him over to an unknown woman at the SASSA office opposite Ultra Liquor store in Somerset West with his 7-year-old sister. It is alleged that the suspect befriended the caregiver and offered to buy them food and chips. The woman later dropped the sister in Main Road, Nomzamo. The 7-year-old walked home after being dropped off near her house. She was subsequently taken for a medical examination and found to be in good health.

Preliminary information suggests that the child might have been seen in the Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu-Natal area.

Police spokeperson Joseph is calling on anyone who may have information to come forward:

“Anyone who can assist with information that will lead to the safe return of Ivakele is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Asanda Hlana on 082 301 8553, Lieutenant Colonel Denver Kamalie on 082 334 8370 or alternatively Crime Stop on 08600 10111”, says Swartbooi.
