Harry Styles breaks Scotland concert record

Published on

Former One Direction member Harry Styles has broken the record for the highest-selling stadium concert ever to be held in Scotland.

The show saw more than 65,000 fans flocking to the stadium to see Styles perform live. All of his biggest hits were included in the setlist including fan favourite, As It Was.

Dressed in pink bedazzled cowboy hats and feather boas, fans (referred to as Harries) gathered at the BT Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Friday and Saturday.

Video footage from the sold-out performance, which was posted on social media, showed fans chanting “No Scotland, no party!” with Harry Styles chanting it back to them from the stage.

Styles seemed thrilled to perform and entertain his audience on both nights. The performances included classics like Adore You, Sign of the Times, and Watermelon Sugar – to new hits from Harry’s House like As It Was and Matilda. But the crowd however went crazy in nostalgia for his rendition of the One Direction song That’s What Makes You Beautiful.

As with every Harry Styles show, he made time to interact with the audience. This time, taking part in a baby’s gender reveal, and leading crowds in uniquely Scottish chants such as ‘here we, here we, here we f***ing go!’.

The Watermelon Sugar singer is on the final leg of his Love on Tour, finishing up in July at the RCF arena in Italy.

But, Styles is not the first big performer to grace Scotland with their presence. Beyonce entertained thousands with her Renaissance world tour on 20 May in the pouring rain.

Bruce Springsteen is also set to perform at the stadium on Tuesday. With the city centre flooded with thousands of Harry Styles fans at the weekend, BT Murrayfield transport bosses warned fans to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid a similar dilemma with Springfield.
