PRIME hydro drink now available at Checkers

Published on

South Africans no longer have to pay an arm and maybe a leg to taste Youtuber Logan Paul and KSI’s popular hydration drink ‘PRIME’ anymore.

Checkers has announced their partnership with the brand and will have it on their shelves – at selected stores – for only R39,99.

Since its hugely successful launch in January of 2022, the PRIME hydro drink phenomenon has flown off supermarket shelves across the globe. Fans of both Paul and KSI – who, combined, boast around 100 million social media followers – will pay just about anything just to get a taste – and a picture for bragging rights – with the drink.

Parents across the country have flocked to social media to vent about the price of the drink as many teenagers were begging to have one. The prices ranged from R400 to R700 for just ONE bottle.

PRIME will be sold at selected Checkers, Checkers Hyper stores, and on Sixty60 from Monday 1 May 2023. Available in the Western Cape, Gauteng, and KwaZulu-Natal. It will roll out to the rest of South Africa during the month.

The retailer is starting the roll-out with four PRIME Hydration flavours: Ice Pop, Blue Raspberry, Lemon Lime, and Tropical Punch. Purchases will be limited to eight bottes per customer, two per flavour.

Each 500ml bottle of PRIME hydro drink has around 20 calories.  It is said to be a thirst quencher for those who wish to rehydrate, refuel and replenish their energy levels. It is made up of 10% coconut water, with zero added sugar or caffeine, and contains electrolytes, vitamins A, E & Zinc, and branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs).

First launched in the USA, United Kingdom and Australia in 2022, PRIME’s availability caused major excitement amongst Gen Z customers. This has resulted in thousands lining up overnight to get their hands on the popular drink. PRIME has now become a viral collector item around the world.
