Former Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn is among 17 former male and female international cricketers named an Honorary Life Member of the MCC.
The MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) is the world’s most active cricket club, the owner of Lord’s Ground and the guardian of the Laws of the game.
Steyn is joined by another South African-born player, Kevin Petersen, who represented England from 2005 to 2014.
Steyn played for South Africa from 2004 to 2020 before retiring.
During his career, he took 439 Test wickets at an average of 22.95 and a strike rate of 42.3.
Steyn also claimed 196 wickets in one-day internationals and a further 64 in T20 internationals for 699 wickets overall for South Africa.
He is the current bowling coach of IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“We are also pleased to be able to announce two individuals who have been awarded this honour for their monumental contributions off the pitch.”
MCC’s Cricket committee considers the nomination of cricketers for Honorary Life Membership, recognising the outstanding international careers of some of the greats of the game.
Honorary Life Membership is also awarded to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to MCC or to the game in general.
