As more South African artists garner attention on the international music scene, one name you must remember is Lola Audreys. While living in London, she released her first single “Diamonds” in 2001. And thanks to some amazing remixes, the track entered the Top 10 on the UK Dance Chart.
In 2022, she wrote and recorded her entire debut album but what’s got people buzzing is her single “Miami”:
The song was co-written by Lola and produced by Barney Cox and global hitmaker Stuart Crichton. Crichton has worked with artists like Backstreet Boys, Selena Gomez, The Chainsmokers, Tiesto and Kesha.

Crichton enjoyed partnering up on this song, and was impressed with Lola’s songwriting and musicianship.
The track features the iconic guitar-playing from Nile Rogers. And thanks to a network of people sharing the track, it eventually reached Nile’s team. They thought it was a great fit for his signature funk and disco-inspired riffs.
Lola’s star quality
If having Nile Rodgers feature on a track wasn’t enough, Hannah Lux Davis is the director! She is responsible for some of the award-winning videos for Ariana Grande, Doja Cat and Katy Perry. She agreed to direct the video when she heard the song and did so while quite far along in her pregnancy; further proof of Lola’s star quality.
This is just the beginning for Lola who describes herself as very energetic, bubbly, and creative. She has all the qualities of a pop star; self-assured, sharp sighted and definitely has the looks! It’s easy to see that she loves to perform and inspire people with her songs.
The world is certainly her oyster and with a management team who have represented some of the biggest pop stars in the world, Lola Audreys could very well be South Africa’s next big export.
