The launch of an online booking platform on the City’s website now makes it easier to secure a recreation hall, community centre or resort as the ideal venue for a wedding, birthday party, community programme or family holiday.
Customers can view the availability of each facility on a calendar and thereafter secure their event date and time at the click of a button.
Going online will save residents time and money, avoiding long queues and delays with telephonic bookings.
The new web page went live on Wednesday, 1 March 2023, allowing customers to browse over 200 venues including community halls and centres, resort chalets and camp sites.
Once a venue is selected, customers can then proceed to the e-services portal to view day-to-day availability and secure their place.
Descriptions of what each venue has to offer is also listed on each facility page, with an overview of available features such as entrances, stages, meeting rooms, kitchens, ablutions and parking.
The facility booking system is a one-stop, online solution in three simple steps:
- Visit www.capetown.gov.za/FindAVenue
- Enter the name of the desired facility or search for one on the drop down menu, then check availability or obtain more information
- Navigate to e-services to reserve your booking.
- Customers must be registered on the e-services portal in order to be able to secure bookings. You only need to register for e-Services once.
- Customers registering for the first time will need to upload a copy of their Identity Document and it may take a few days for the facility booking service to become active.
- If you are already registered for e-services, activating the facility booking service is immediate and you will be able to book a venue at any time.
- Once a provisional booking is secured, an invoice will be sent to the email account registered on the e-Services system and an SMS sent to the customer to make payment.
- In addition, the system allows the department to draw statistical reports about the usage of community facilities, enabling informed planning and maintenance.
