The Tygerberg Children’s Choir needs your help!

Published on

The Tygerberg Children’s choir needs your help! They plan to defend their ranking of 4th position worldwide in a competition of Interkultur in Hull in Great Britain during April/May 2023.

But they are desperately looking for more funding to take all the children. They still need about R250 000 to make the trip a success.

The competition will start on 27 April up to 1 May 2023. Every choir member has to raise R40 000 in order to tour the UK.

The high fuel costs influenced the airfares, therefore it is an expensive trip.

The choir feels that it is necessary to keep a high position on the ranking; the choir worked for 50 years to build a respected name in the choir world, and they need to go to Hull!

Having won countless international choral competitions since its inception in 1972, the Tygerberg Children’s Choir, one of SA’s proudest musical export products, is widely regarded as one of the best even-voiced children’s choirs in the world today.

After having been crowned Double World Champions at the 10th World Choir Games in Pretoria, South Africa in 2018, they have continued to excel and are currently the world’s number 4 Children’s/Youth choir and number 4 in the world overall on the Interkultur World Rankings List.

The choir celebrates a monumental 50 years this year, truly a remarkable milestone.

These highly talented children have, among many others, performed for ex-US President Bill Clinton, at the inauguration of President Nelson Mandela in 1994 and for Queen Elizabeth.

The choir wins the hearts and souls of audiences wherever they go, and once heard, the vocal magic they bring forth can never be forgotten.
