Non-profit organisation, the Mustadafin Foundation is hosting a drive to help impoverished communities prepare for the cold winter months ahead.

The NPO is in the process of collecting and distributing warm clothes, blankets, mattresses, vanity packs, food hampers and hot meals.

The organisation’s marketing co-ordinator, Nazley Rulumente says this is being supplied to areas such as Khayelitsha, Langa, Nyanga, Delft, Manenberg, Tafelsig and other areas.

“In the Western Cape, with the recent rains, we are already experiencing floods within some of the communities in which we work, ” says Rulumente.

She says residents are already riddled with numerous economic challenges:
“With winter approaching, the rising cost of living and an increasing unemployment rate, more people are living below the poverty line. We are finding that more people in our communities cannot afford even the basics of a cup of soup, blankets, hot water and other essentials required to keep themselves warm. In preparation for winter, we are starting our winter good donation drive now. With your help, we aim to improve the standard of living for people living in vulnerable communities, ” adds Rulumente.
Last year, the foundation provided over 5 000 people with winter relief packages.
