Here’s how to watch the Tutu International Peace Lecture

It’s time for the Annual Desmond Tutu International Peace Lecture again. The 12th Peace Lecture will happen this Friday.

It’s the first lecture that is taking place after the Arch’s passing. It will occur on his birthday and will be held at the Cape Town City Hall.

The Peace Lecture honours his extraordinary life while reflecting on his legacy into the future.

The UN’s Deputy Secretary-General

According to the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, this year’s Peace Lecture will be delivered by the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Ms Amina J. Mohammed. She will appear with best-selling author Doug Abrams.

“Deputy Secretary-General Mohammed is credited as being one of the key architects of the Sustainable Development Goals, setting an agenda for how we can develop flourishing societies and the planet.

She is a globally recognised leader in action to prevent climate change. She has served as the Minister of Environment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” a statement reads.

Best-selling author Doug Abrams

It also added: “Abrams is best-known for his collaborative work with Archbishop Tutu and the Dalai Lama to co-author The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World. 

Tutu International Peace LectureHe has worked with other Nobel Laureates including Nelson Mandela, Jody Williams, and Elizabeth Blackburn. He has also worked with many visionary luminaries like Stephen Hawking and Jane Goodall.”

When is the 12th Annual Desmond Tutu International Peace Lecture?

The 12th Annual Desmond Tutu International Peace Lecture is taking place on 7 October 2022. Unfortunately, all the available tickets to the event have been snapped up, but you can stream the event from anywhere in the world on tutu.org.za!
