PREMIER LEAGUE IS BACK – A lot of the matches have been postponed as England’s currently witnessing a period of mourning, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth, so it’s a reduced roster set for this weekend. Here are the Top 4 fixtures to look forward to this weekend.
1. Brentford vs Arsenal
The Bees find themselves in the Top 8. Whether they’ll stay there or move up all depends on how they’ll tackle log leaders Arsenal on Sunday. It will also be a test for Arsenal’s ability to bounce back after the slightly harsh 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford a fortnight previously, which ended their winning start but did not affect their status as league leaders.
2. Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Erling Haaland has been voted August’s Player of the Month and rightfully so after his nine goals set a new Premier League, breaking the mark of Man City legend, Sergio Aguero.
Besides a possible hat-trick this weekend, Wolves have an ace up their sleeve as well in Diego Costa, who’s making a return back to the English Premier league.
Costa’s heroics in front of goal could be the deciding factor that keeps Wolves in the hunt for maximum points or take two from Man City.
3. Newcastle VS Bournemouth
Newcastle’s new cash injection by a Saudi Arabian consortium has seen them flex their wallet during the transfer market, after having spent more than £200m on new players in less than a year! Will we see that investment translate into results, especially without their two creative players in Allan Saint-Maximin and Bruno Guimarães?
4. Tottenham vs Leicester City
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham will have to bounce back in a big way and only a win will suffice. After losing their Champions League group match against Sporting CP, expect a few changes in the Lillywhites squad such as Dejan Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma, and Matt Doherty potential incomings.
Whomever you support this weekend, may it rain goals!
