Phase 3 of Presidential Youth Employment Initiative wraps up at the end of August

The Department of Basic Education has confirmed that phase 3 of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative would conclude at the end of this month.

The Initiative was started during the middle- to late stages of the Covid-19 pandemic and saw unemployed young people assist teachers and school staff at 20 000 schools across the country’s nine provinces.

Media liaison officer at the DBE, Terence Khala, says preparations are already underway for phase 4 which will start early in 2023.
