Another golden night for Team SA at the 2022 Commonwealth Games!

It was another golden night for Team SA at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Sunday night.

South African star swimmer Tatjana Schoenmaker claimed the third Commonwealth Games gold medal as she defended her title to win the women’s 200m breaststoke final.

It was gold and bronze for Team SA, as Olympian Kaylene Corbett had a strong final 50m as she captured third position in 2:23.67.

The Springboks Sevens side defeated Fiji 31-7 in the men’s final to seal gold!

It was a clinical performance by coach Neil Powell’s charges, who left their best performance of the weekend for when it mattered most.

They ran in five tries against a shell-shocked Fijian outfit who were gunning for their first-ever Commonwealth Games gold.

It was South Africa’s second Commonwealth Games gold medal, having also done so in Glasgow in 2014.

Swimmer Chad le Clos made history on Sunday as he tied for most decorated Commonwealth Games athlete in history.

Le Clos, who was on the cusp of defending his title, had to settle for silver in the men’s 200m butterfly final at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.
