Google I/O Event-Top 3 Takeaways

Published on

One of the biggest tech events of the year took place recently, and this is one of those events that many in the tech field hold their breath for! I am referring of course to the much anticipated Google I/O event!

Quick info just incase you are not one hundred percent sure what this event is all about… The Google I/O event is an annual developer conference held by Google in Mountain View, California. The I/O stands for input/output as well as fort he slogan ‘Innovation in the Open”.

It is at this event that Google announces some of their most interesting and biggest projects and tech that the world can look forward to.

Now to go and chat about everything that was said and unveiled, will take a week or more, but Theunis Janse Van Rensburg joined me and we unpacked three of the biggest takeaways of this years’ Google I/O that has got people paying attention.

Firstly, The Google Pixel 6A. vey exciting contender in the smartphone market.

It is their mid range phone, and also one of their most successful phones in the Pixel range. Basically why this phone is so successful is that it takes all the flagship hardware, but dials it down just a bit to really make it a quality affordable smartphone. It still boasts a good quality screen of 1080p and slightly more affordable camera setup, but no sacrifices in terms of internal chips and ram, meaning that when it comes to flagship smartphones, you can literally think half price. We are still waiting for the final price announcement

Then there was mention of the Pixel Smartwatch! Yes please.

What many don’t know is that Google bought Fitbit and they have incorporated that trusted tech into this brand new watch that is every bit as sleek as the top of the range smartwatches out there. It is a good mix of an Apple and Samsung watch in terms of looks. Furthermore it has all the gimmicks that you would expect and want in a smartwatch, like GPS tracking, heartrate monitor and fitness tracking that’s able to pick up, apparently, what exercise you are busy with.

I am a sucker for a good smartwatch, so I for one am excited to see this one hit the market and at what price we will be able to get it for.

And lastly, Google is set to bring a premium Pixel tablet to the market, with the thinking of taking the iPad head on.

Here we don’t have a lot to go on, it was simply announced with a few images on screen, we don’t even know it that was the final images, but a rival to the iPad could be a welcome addition to the market.

Those where the top three takeaways from the 2022 Google I/O.
