ICYMI: StatsSA has extended the deadline for residents of the Western Cape to get counted in Census 2022 until the 14th of May.

The Western Cape is currently at 58%, while approximately 87% of households in the rest of the country have been counted.

Statistics South Africa’s Chief director in the Western Cape says field workers have especially struggled to access residents in the more leafy suburbs and those living in gated communities to complete Census 2022.

This as the deadline to complete the census has again been extended to 14 May.

Director Patrick Kelly says it’s been easier to count people in informal areas, but it’s proving more difficult in more affluent and middle class areas, as many people are at work during the day.

He has appealed to all residents to get counted. Field workers will still come out, but he says the online questionnaire only takes about 30 minutes to complete:
