SA Wind Energy Association: Renewables will decrease SA’s carbon emissions

Published on

The South African Wind Energy Association says the introduction of more renewables into the country’s energy mix will help decrease South Africa’s carbon emissions.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, during his 2022 SONA last week, said several new generation projects will be coming online over the next few years.

This includes about 500MW to be generated through window 4 of the renewable energy programme.

SAWEA Chairperson Mercia Grimbeek says several of these projects are at an advanced stage.

Grimbeek says renewable energy sources hold an array of benefits.
