The death toll due to covid-19 has breached the 95 000 mark.

Over the latest 48-hour monitoring period, 15 new coronavirus-related deaths were recorded taking the death toll to 95 022. According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, more than 2 200 new cases were also confirmed, over the same period.

Meanwhile, China has detected 37 new cases of Covid-19, among people linked to the Olympic Games. The organising committee of the Beijing 2022 Winter Games says 28 of the new cases were people who tested positive after arriving at the airport, including 8 athletes or team officials due to take part in the 4 to 12 February Games.
