Cape Town firefighters responded to more than 200 vegetation fires this past weekend

The City’s Safety and Security Directorate says Cape Town firefighters responded to more than 200 vegetation fires this past weekend.

While law-enforcers had their hands full – with thousands flocking to beaches because of the hot weather – firefighters were called out to attend to 235 wildfires across the Metro.

Mayoral committee member, JP Smith says 48 of these fires occurred in residential areas.
