The Western Cape has achieved a 81.2% pass rate in the 2021 Grade 12 examinations.
This is a 1.3% increase from the 79.9% pass rate obtained in 2020 National Senior Certificate Examinations.
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga says the Free State scored the highest pass rate, with 85.7% of Grade 12 in that province passing their Matric.
Gauteng came in second, with an 82,8% pass rate.
