Aerial footage shows National Assembly roof alight, firefighters battling flare up

The City’s Fire and Rescue Service has battled a blaze at Parliament since Sunday morning. On Monday afternoon, the fire flared up.

The void beneath the roof sheeting of the National Assembly caught alight.

Currently there are at least 6 firefighting appliances on scene, as well as the hydraulic platform from Roeland Str. fire station.

Approximately 34 firefighters are busy with active firefighting.
