Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Barca out of the UCL

Published on

Football giants, Barcelona have been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League, following a massive 3-0 loss against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena last night.

Barca had to beat the Bundesliga title holders in their final Group E encounter to keep their campaign alive. Unfortunately, the Spaniards looked tame on the attack, and even worse on defence.

The match was already out of reach by the end of the first half, as Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane both found the back of the net. Jamal Musiala meanwhile sealed the result in the 62nd minute with a goal of his own.

That result sees Barcelona miss out on the Round of 16 for the first time since the 2000/2001 season. Xavi Hernandez’s men drop down to the Europa League. Barcelona has not played in the Thursday night league since the 2003-2004 season.

Benfica meanwhile sealed a comfortable 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv to leapfrog Barcelona for second place.
