WC Health: #SaveOurSummer – Get Vaccinated!

Published on

The Western Cape Department of Health has called on all residents to work together towards a safer summer, and a safer 2022, by getting vaccinated against Covid-19.

While the Department welcomes the introduction of the 12- to 17-year-old age band to the vaccination programme, people older than 50 years still need to be protected from being hospitalised and dying from COVID-19.

Health data shows this can be achieved if the majority are fully vaccinated.

This is a tough ask – but by working together towards a safer summer, a safer 2022 – we can ensure we save many of our loved ones in the coming months. We can do this, let’s roll up our sleeves, put our arms out and get vaccinated today!

45% of the provincial adult population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.  34% of the total adult population has been fully vaccinated.

  • Of those 60 years and older: 61.40% have been fully vaccinated and 6.67% are partially vaccinated;
  • Of those between 50-59 years: 48.82% have been fully vaccinated and 8.74% are partially vaccinated;
  • Of those between 35 – 49 years: 35.99% have been fully vaccinated and 11.44% are partially vaccinated; and
  • Of those between 18 -34 years: 17.47% have been fully vaccinated and 13.53% are partially vaccinated
