South Africa has recorded 2 640 new coronavirus cases, with a positivity rate of 10.4%, as the covid-91 death toll breeched 85 000.

Another 125 people have died over the latest 24-hour monitoring period – with total fatalities on 85 002.

The Beer Association of South Africa has meanwhile encouraged its members to put plans in place to avert a crisis in December when a fourth wave of covid-19 is expected to hit the country. BASA says it’s cognizant of the fact that any recovery in the sector could be wiped out if another lockdown is implemented. The CEO of BASA, Patricia Pillay says the end of the year is their busiest period.
