Winde told the Smile Breakfast Show this morning, that he will then ask the president, to migrate the Western Cape, to level 2 of the lockdown.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health says it hopes the changes, made to the Electronic Vaccination Data System, will encourage more citizens to get the covid-19 jab. Minister Joe Phaahla says upgrades to the EVDS-platform now allow people to choose when and where to get the injection.

In the Western Cape: The next stop on the Jabs Before Jol campaign is Long Street in the Cape Town CBD, known for its nightlife. Health MEC Dr Nomafrench Mbombo is spearheading the campaign, which saw a Covid-19 pop-up vaccination site set up last week, at the Rands entertainment venue in Gugulethu. Over 200 vaccinations were administered at the nightclub.

Further afield: The novel coronavirus has killed at least 4.5-million people since the outbreak emerged in China in December 2019. At least 220-million cases of the coronavirus have been registered, with the vast majority of people having recovered, even though some have continued to experience symptoms weeks or even months later.

In the United States: Inmates at a prison say they were experimentally given Ivermectin to treat covid-19 without their knowledge or consent. According to The Insider, a doctor is under investigation for prescribing the anti-parasite drug commonly used on animals. The inmates were initially told the pills, which were actually Ivermectin, were antibiotics and vitamins.
