The City has announced 15 Driving Licence Testing Centres will extend their operating hours into the weekend.

This is to accommodate the looming deadline for licence renewal extensions that was granted during the hard lockdown in 2020.

The validity of driving licences and public driving permits, that expired between 26 March 2020 and December 2020, was extended to 31 August 2021.

The following centres will operate from 08:00 – 16:30 on Mondays to Saturdays, and 08:00 – 15:00 on Sundays:

  • Atlantis
  • Bellrail
  • Brackenfell
  • Durbanville
  • Eastridge
  • Elsies River
  • Fish Hoek
  • Gallows Hill
  • Hillstar
  • Joe Gqabi
  • Lingelethu West
  • Milnerton
  • New Ottery
  • Parow
  • Somerset West

The extended operating hours will be in place until the end of August.
