Premier Alan Winde has pointed out, that usually, it’s first infections that reach a plateau, followed by hospitalizations and deaths. He has stressed that while the health care system is still under pressure, it can currently handle the demand for beds.
Winde says active cases have dropped to more than 38 000 after standing at more than 40 000 on Monday. There are currently more than 3 600 people in public and private hospitals, of whom 708 are in the high care or in intensive care units. Winde has called for “increased vigilance”, as the province nears its peak.
