The Health Department will this week aim to vaccinate at least 300 000 people per day.

Acting Minister of Health Mmamoloko Kubayi says after the vaccine constraints experienced last week, the country will this week have access to millions of doses of vaccines, delivered by Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson. She says vaccine producers have also been urged to keep to their supply deadlines, saying that any delays severely impact the country’s vaccination ability.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize, who is currently on special leave, has told the Special Investigating Unit, he never asked Digital Vibes to pay for maintenance to his private home and is now trying to offer up his messenger – who allegedly stole from him – as a sacrificial lamb. Mkhize claimed a messenger – also with the surname Mkhize – had stolen the money for maintenance services provided by his housekeeper and had subsequently approached a Digital Vibes executive to pay for them.
