According to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases, the province confirmed 2 333 new cases, accounting for 27% of yesterday’s nationwide tally.
Meanwhile, the provincial health department says it has taken on more health workers to help in the fight against the virus. 804 additional appointments have been made to fight covid and more than 1 100 health workers, including students being deployed to vaccination sites, have been brought in. Head of health, Dr Keith Cloete says contracts have also been extended till the end of September.
