The National Institute for Communicable Diseases says almost a quarter of the Covid-19 tests conducted in the last 24 hours were positive.

The NICD says 9 160 new cases of the virus were confirmed, with 69% of the new infections in Gauteng. Hospital admissions increased by 341 in the past 24 hours. At the time of the update, more than 9 500 people were in hospital for treatment associated with the virus. A further 93 Covid-19 related deaths were reported, taking the total fatalities to 58 795.
