The South African Electoral Commission says it has purchased 40-thousand electronic verification devices, to be employed in the upcoming elections.
Chief Electoral Officer at the Commission, Sy Mamabolo made the announcement during a presentation to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs, on Friday.
Mamabolo says the devices cost the Commission R 620-million and says it’s a good investment because the devices can be used, in future, in other elections and by-elections.
