Workers’ unions have given Government 5 days to come to the table with a good offer, before going on strike. Trade union Cosatu has threatened to launch a devastating nationwide strike if its members’ salaries are not adjusted. Government had initially table a 0% salary increase citing a bad state of the local economy, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Unions, however, want an inflation-related increase, plus 4%.
