2020 was a dismal year for South Africa’s tourism industry and the fewest foreign tourists in 14 years visited the country. Just over 4.5 million international travelers arrived in 2020 at all travel destinations such as ports, airports and border posts in the country. This number was almost 16 million in 2019 – that’s according to Statistics South Africa’s (SSA) tourism report for 2020, released today.
