A murder investigation is underway following the death of an 11-year-old girl in Kraaifontein on Tuesday night.

Police say this child, alongside an 8-year-old girl, as well as a 20-year-old man were outside in Mti Street, in Wallacedene, when an unknown person began shooting in the street.

“Kraaifontein police registered a case of murder and two counts of attempted murder following a shooting incident on Tuesday, at about 19:20… where a 11 year female was shot and fatally wounded and a eight year old female and 20 year old male injured,” said police spokesperson, FC Van Wyk.

While all three victims were wounded, the 11-year-old died on the scene.

Police suspect that the motive is gang related. Meanwhile, the suspect fled the scene.

This is a developing story.
