Three siblings have died at a Gauteng School. The Gauteng Education Department has confirmed that 3 children have died at Evaton Primary School in Sebokeng. The pupils are said to have fallen ill at the school yesterday and succumbed shortly after that.

It was later established that the 3 children who died, were siblings, in Grades 3, 4 and 5. According to MEC Matome Chiloane, the Grade 3 learner had told teachers that she had eaten pap, milk and biscuits at home.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says an investigation has been launched into the sad incident.
In an unrelated incident, another pupil died at the Tsakane Secondary School in Ekurhuleni, also yesterday.
A pupil at another school dies
The deceased Grade 8 pupil, along with another learner had allegedly ingested rat poison while at school. 1 scholar died, while the other was rushed to a medical facility.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of these young lives,” he said.
Chiloane has confirmed that the Police will also be investigating the incident.
Chiloane added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and school communities affected by these devastating incidents.”
Necessary support for learners will be available
He has also promised support for learners at the 2 schools.
Our psychosocial support team will be dispatched to provide necessary support to everyone involved during this difficult time,” Chiloane said.
The MEC has asked learners who are struggling with mental health or those who have feelings of being overwhelmed to seek help.
