The Police have confirmed that the vehicle found yesterday in the Hennops River in Centurion is the one they were looking for. It was the vehicle that the 3 police constables were driving at the time of their disappearance last week. The vehicle chassis number was used to confirm whether that was the vehicle they had been travelling in.

At the same time, the families of the 3 constables were alerted to the latest development. Earlier diving teams had found vehicle parts, including a front and rear vehicle bumper. Search and rescue teams also discovered a police reflector jacket which belonged to one of the deceased police officers.

Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says SAPS divers, City of Tshwane divers and EMS, SAPS Special Task Force (STF) divers, as well as Search and Rescue South Africa, had earlier located a metal object that they suspect may be the missing vehicle. She says this metal object was felt by divers about 4 kilometres from the N1.
