Stellenbosch municipal worker in court for murder

A Stellenbosch municipal worker appeared in court earlier today on a charge of murder after a burglar was on Monday shot and killed at a block of apartments belonging to the municipality.

The burglar was shot five times.

According to a police source, the 55-year-old municipal worker caught the burglar at around 04:15 at his apartment in Dan Pienaar Road.

He then shot and killed the burglar with his wife’s service pistol.

The burglar died at the scene.
