Tickets for the Castle Lager Rugby Championship Test between the Springboks and All Blacks at DHL Stadium sold out on Wednesday after a fair and orderly process.
Following a registration of interest to ensure an equitable outcome and reduce the number of secondary resales, ticket fraud, and illegally counterfeited tickets, fans randomly drawn through the ticket ballot process were invited to purchase tickets through a secure, dedicated link via Ticketmaster.
A ticket ballot is used by many sporting bodies across the world; and is the fairest way of giving people a chance to purchase tickets.
The system also reduces the number of frustrated customers stuck in the queue for what is a high-demand event, with over 170 000 people registering their interest in buying up to four tickets each for an event that will have a capacity of 58 417 spectators.
This event will utilise Digital Tickets that are encrypted and tied to individual Ticketmaster accounts, greatly reducing the risk of ticket fraud from stolen or illegally counterfeited tickets.
Fans will be able to safely and securely send Digital Tickets to friends from thirty (30) days before the Test match, straight from your Ticketmaster account to theirs for free from your desktop or mobile. For safety & security reasons, the barcode of your Digital Ticket will only display three (3) days before the Test match.
Your phone is your ticket, and instructions for a seamless entry into the DHL Stadium will be shared closer to the Test match.
Only tickets purchased from Ticketmaster will be valid for entry to the match.
Fans are strongly advised against purchasing tickets from Viagogo. These tickets are unlawfully resold for multiple times the face value and are not legitimate tickets.
Should you purchase these tickets you may be denied entry into the venue, and you will not be entitled to a refund.
Rugby’s greatest rivalry will play out in front of a packed DHL Stadium on 7 September, which promises to be an historic occasion.
While many fans were left disappointed, there will be a crowd of over 58 000 at the world-class DHL Stadium to witness the replay of last year’s Rugby World Cup Final.
