South Africa has reported less than 10 000 new coronavirus cases over the latest 24-hour monitoring period after 9 718 infections were confirmed.

Another 287 people have died, taking the death toll, to 69 775. Meanwhile, the National Institute of Communicable Diseases says 3 of the 9 provinces reported more than 1 000 new cases. They are Gauteng, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. The Free State and the Northern Cape recorded the least new cases.
