Wear your slippers for a good cause on Slipper Day

Published on

Slipper Day returns and Reach For A Dream is calling on the public to donate towards helping kids who are battling life-threatening illnesses. By purchasing a R20 Slipper Day sticker, you can assist children reach for their dreams – and wear your fluffy slippers to work without judgement!

Slipper day is on Friday, May 5.

What can a R20 do?

All the proceeds raised on the day will go to Reach For A Dream, a local non-profit organisation. Their mission is to help children fight serious diseases by making their dreams come true. Children are able to meet their favourite celeb or idol or even swim with dolphins!

This gives the children and their families a precious respite from daily stressors linked with ill health. In turn, it stirs courage and hope within them, helping them believe that tomorrow is worth fighting for.

CEO of Reach For A Dream, Julia Sotirianakos, says the NPO raised over R8.3 million last year. And this year, they are aiming to reach a goal much higher – R10 million to help 2000 children:

Slipper Day is our biggest annual fundraiser with all funds going towards fulfilling the dreams of children who are facing some of the toughest challenges life can throw at them. This year, we’re calling on all South Africans to step up and support Slipper Day not only to celebrate these brave dreamers but inspire hope among them, so they know that no matter what obstacles arise, they are never alone in their journey

What Is Slipper Day?

This is Reach For A Dream’s largest (and most celebrated) fundraiser. Since its inauguration in Kwa-Zulu Natal in 2011, the campaign has grown into a national movement. To know more you can visit their website to buy a pair of slippers or socks, or bulk order a bunch of Slipper Day stickers!

No everyone do The Slipper Shuffle

Reach For A Dream is launching the Slipper Shuffle to get South Africans dancing for joy in their slippers. The dance challenge is choreographed by TikTok sensation and teacher, Mrs Bullock. The Slipper Shuffle is a five-step dance sequence that can easily be done in your slippers.
