Shakira’s reps said she was not yet notified of the new investigation, which she allegedly learned about through the media. A Shakira spokesperson said the singer “had not received any formal notification of the Prosecutor’s complaint” in an email to NBC News.
“As she has already said on numerous occasions, Shakira maintains she has always acted in accordance with the law and under the advice of the best tax experts,” the representatives said in a statement.
Shakira’s legal team “will not make any comments until the notification reaches them through the official and legally established channels,” the spokesperson said. “She must be notified personally at her new address, in strict accordance with the provisions of the Law.”

It is worthwhile nothing that Spain first charged Shakira in 2018. During the span of five years (since then) the singer undergone some major life changes. This includes her relocation to Miami after ending her 11-year relationship with Gerard Piqué, after alleged cheating. The couple have two children, and previously lived in Barcelona.
Shakira chronicles the player’s suspected cheating in her recent track with Bizarrap.
Shakira is not the only celebrity who the Spanish courts have hounded for avoiding taxes. The Spanish Tax Agency reportedly accused soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo of not paying 14.7 million euros in taxes from 2011 to 2013. This is during the time he played for Real Madrid.
