Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla says government is trying to ensure as many people as possible are vaccinated against Covid-19 before introducing booster shots.

Phaahla says the Ministerial Advisory Committee on vaccines discussed introducing booster shots.

The Minister says the priority is now to make sure all adult South Africans, who are willing to get the vaccine, get vaccinated, before the fourth wave.

He said rates of vaccination would determine the severity of the next wave, which is expected toward the end of the year.
