President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that Lieutenant-General Rudzani Maphwanya has been appointed the Chief of the South African National Defence Force, and will assume office on 1 June. Major-General Thalita Mxakato will also be the Army's new Chief of Defence Intelligence, making her the first woman to be appointed to the Military Command of the SANDF.

In a 21-page letter addressed to Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, Zuma says he’s ready to become a prisoner of the Constitutional Court and says he did not commit contempt of court when he decided not to participate in the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture, where he felt his rights would be violated.
