More relief at the fuel pumps this October

Published on

The fuel price is set to drop for the fifth consecutive month on Wednesday.

On Monday, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced that 93-octane petrol will drop by R1, 06 per litre, and 95-octane will be R1, 14 cents cheaper. Diesel users can expect the price to decrease by between R1, 12 and R1, 14 per litre for diesel. The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will go down by R1, 11 a litre.

The Automobile Association’s Eleanor Mavimbela said the pending fuel price adjustments will provide welcomed relief to motorists.

“The cumulative impact of this fifth decrease is substantial and will see motorists paying fuel prices last seen in 2022. Although we are expecting fuel to be cheaper in October, we still remain committed to advocating for sustainable solutions to mitigating high fuel costs,” said Mavimbela.
