Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says the sooner a covid-19 vaccine reaches Africa, the easier African governments will be able to avoid a resurgence in infections.
Mhkize was participating in an online World Health Organization-briefing this week and says that up to 18 African countries have already seen a marked surge in new covid-19 infections, in the past 7 days.
Mhkize says countries should, irrespective of their location or economic-well-being, all have equal access to a vaccine.
