Listen: W.C. School Attendance on the Up

The Western Cape Department of Education says it is encouraged with the increase in the number of Western Cape learners, attending face-to-face classes at the province’s schools.

Attendance rates for Grade 7 and 12 learners have increased by more than 40-percent, respectively, over the past few weeks.

On 1 June, the attendance rate for Grade 7 and 12 learners was 33% and 44%, and now stands at 77% and 87%, respectively.
