Grant Lottering raises the stakes for youth to thrive

Published on

On Saturday morning  Grant Lotterring will once again inspire us to change lives. I spoke to him this week on THT about this weekend’s event which is aimed at raising funds for the VUSA Rugby Academy.

Raising funds for young people to thrive

The Academy is based in Langa and has been supported by Bishops College through primarily this fundraising initiative which last year raised half a bar. The Academy uses sport as a vehicle to inspire, inform, transform, and motivate young people to recognize and develop their unique potential and talents. Rugby is such a great sport to achieve that as it fosters camaraderie and team spirit.

Grant says they want to up the stakes this year. Naturally. The target is 700K and beyond.

It’s the ‘beyond’ part I like, the more we get involved, the more we motivate others to contribute the more we build greater cohesion and solidarity with one another; showing us that together we can uplift one another.

There is without question more power in unity, and when that power is actioned the transformation is tangible.

Why are you so afraid, when the potential is limitless?

Grant says ‘fear is part of life’. It’s how we manage and confront it that separates the wood from the trees.

If anyone knows that, he certainly does, having almost died in 2013. Given the extent of the injuries he sustained in a horrific Alpine crash it’s nothing short of a miracle that he survived. Perhaps, there’s a purpose in mind?

Grant seems to think so as he has used his second chance to inspire millions around the world.

Saturday will be no different.

Despite the challenges of a static bike and the environment, he will complete the 24 hour cycle challenge. By committing himself to doing the challenge he is also showing us what is possible.

His drive, courage, determination and love of humanity will hopefully propel you and I to also contribute.
